Pizza is an easy way to feed a wide range of tastes with one healthy dish. At my table, I seek to satisfy the palate of a 7-year-old along with those with more acquired tastes. When it comes to making pizza, I’ve found that everyone gets what they like through the careful placement of ingredients.
For those of us who do not make our own pizza crust, the markets often have premixed balls of dough that can easily be shaped to meet your favorite pizza tray. There are also pre-baked crusts available that simply need some sauce and topping. For some suggestions to make tasty pizza with ingredients that you may have handy in your pantry or fridge:
-
Pizza dough (we like organic herb blends)
-
Non-dairy cheese (Daiya or Follow Your Heart are both delicious)
-
Sun-dried tomatoes
-
Fresh Basil
-
Mushrooms
-
Artichoke hearts
-
Roasted or plain peppers
-
Olives
-
Onions
-
Garlic
-
Faux Meat (imitation pepperoni, etc.)
Serve with a colorful salad and you have a simple, tasty and nutritious meal that meets everybody’s tastes.
